# Franchise Royalties and Fees: Managing the Cost of the System

**Short answer:** Royalties and system fees are a fixed share of your sales, which means they grow as you grow whether or not profit does. Tracking every fee accurately, understanding what you get in return and focusing on the costs you can control is essential to strong unit-level margins.

## Typical franchise system costs
